Peoria, IL – A late-night search is underway after a stolen vehicle was found crashed and abandoned in Peoria County following a high-speed flight from police Thursday night.
According to the Peoria Police Department, officers responded around 11:30 p.m. on October 30, 2025, to the 2600 block of N. Prospect for a report of a recently stolen vehicle. Roughly 30 minutes later, officers spotted the car traveling near Latrobe and Folkers. When they attempted a traffic stop, the driver allegedly sped off at a high rate of speed.
In accordance with department policy, officers did not pursue. Shortly afterward, Peoria County Sheriff’s deputies located the vehicle abandoned in the 2300 block of S. Oregon after it had reportedly crashed into a power pole.
Authorities deployed a drone to search the area, but the suspect or suspects were not found. As of Friday morning, no arrests have been made, and police said the investigation remains active.
