According to the Peoria Police Department, officers were dispatched at approximately 1:44 a.m. Friday to a business in the 2200 block of West War Memorial Drive, identified as JCPenney, after an alarm indicated a possible break-in. The call came while the store was closed to the public.

Police said officers conducted a security check of the building and located an adult female inside the store. The woman was identified as 26-year-old Terionna R. Brown of Peoria.

According to police, Brown allegedly admitted to remaining inside the business after it had closed. Officers took her into custody without incident at the scene.

Brown was arrested on a burglary charge and later transported to the Peoria County Jail. No injuries were reported, and police did not indicate whether any merchandise was taken or damaged during the incident.
