Peoria, IL – In the ongoing investigation of the January 15 homicide linked to a Facebook Marketplace transaction in Peoria, police have made a significant breakthrough.

According to the Peoria Police Department, 18-year-old Jaylyn J. Branscumb was detained and charged with armed robbery on January 25. This follows the earlier arrest of 27-year-old Sontarrius D. Williams on similar charges. The case began as a robbery setup, where victims were lured under the guise of a vehicle sale, leading to a fatal shooting. The latest arrest of Keshawn Williams on February 22 for attempted armed robbery further adds to the case’s complexity.

The police continue their investigation, urging the public to remain vigilant during online marketplace transactions and to use secure and surveilled locations for such meetings. The Peoria Police Department welcomes any additional information regarding this or other violent crimes.
