Peoria, IL – A 23-year-old man was arrested early Wednesday morning after allegedly trespassing at a towing business and resisting police officers during his arrest, according to the Peoria Police Department.

Police said the incident happened around 12:59 a.m. in the 2900 block of SW Washington Street at Joe’s Towing. Officers responded to a report of a man attempting to unlawfully enter a secured lot. When officers arrived, the suspect had already fled on foot.

According to authorities, after a brief pursuit, officers located and apprehended the suspect—identified as Aureliano Hernandez—in the 3400 block of SW Washington Street. Police said that as officers attempted to take him into custody, Hernandez allegedly resisted and became combative.

After a short struggle, officers safely restrained Hernandez and took him into custody. He was arrested for aggravated battery to police, criminal trespass, and resisting arrest.

Police said Hernandez was transported to the Peoria County Jail.
