Peoria, IL – A string of early morning incidents kept Peoria County deputies busy Thursday, including a suspected arson fire, a short vehicle pursuit, and multiple arrests across the county.

According to the Peoria County Sheriff’s Office, deputies first responded at 2:18 a.m. to a reported vehicle fire at the Fosters Service Center located at 3523 W. Farmington Road. Three vehicles were involved in the blaze, which officials say appears to be the result of possible arson. No injuries were reported, and the investigation is ongoing. Body-worn camera (BWC) footage was captured at the scene.

Deputies also made several arrests during routine traffic stops throughout the morning, citing violations for DUI and suspended licenses.

At approximately 8:20 a.m., deputies were involved in a short vehicle pursuit near Fredonia Street and Cooper Street after a suspect fled a traffic stop. The male suspect was apprehended several blocks away by a deputy recruit and K-9 unit. Deputies reported the man was shirtless and out of breath. When questioned, he allegedly told deputies he was “hot and went for a jog.” Authorities say the man admitted he was on parole and fled because he did not want to return to prison.

In a separate incident shortly afterward, another male was arrested for allegedly walking in the middle of Farmington Road near Park Avenue, obstructing traffic and causing multiple disturbances, including at a nearby gas station.

No injuries have been reported in any of the incidents. Investigations remain ongoing.
