Peoria County, Illinois Man Struck and Killed by Train in Apparent Overnight Incident

Peoria County, IL – A 43-year-old Bartonville man was found dead Monday morning after allegedly being struck by a train on a stretch of Union Pacific Railroad tracks in Peoria County.

According to the Peoria County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded around 8:30 a.m. Monday to the 800 block of South Kickapoo Creek Road, where a deceased male was discovered on the railroad crossing. Authorities believe the man intentionally laid down on the tracks overnight before being hit by a Union Pacific train around 2:30 a.m.

The Peoria County Coroner also responded to the scene. Officials say there were no immediate signs of foul play, and an investigation remains ongoing.

The identity of the man has not been released pending notification of family.

No further details were made public as of Monday afternoon.
