Peoria, IL – A Peoria man has been arrested in connection with a shooting that left a woman injured earlier this week, according to the Peoria Police Department.

According to police, detectives identified 35-year-old Calvin L. Freeman as the suspect in an aggravated battery with a firearm case first reported on Sunday, October 5, 2025. The incident involved a 34-year-old woman who arrived at a local hospital with a gunshot wound to the chest. She was listed in stable condition at the time.

On Wednesday, October 8, officers located and detained Freeman in the 2400 block of West Northland Avenue without incident. During the investigation, authorities executed search warrants on Freeman’s vehicle and a residence on West Gift Avenue, where they reportedly found a 9mm handgun.

Freeman was arrested for aggravated domestic battery, aggravated battery with a firearm, no FOID, and possession of a weapon by a felon. He was transported to the Peoria County Jail.
