Peoria County, IL – Authorities are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a woman whose body was found in the Illinois River near Mosaic Fertilizer in Peoria County on Monday afternoon.
According to the Peoria County Coroner’s Office, deputies responded to the 8700 block of Cargill Road at approximately 2:30 p.m. on March 17 after receiving a report of a body in the water. The Pekin Fire Department assisted in recovering the remains.
The woman is described as being between 25 and 35 years old, of mixed race, standing 5 feet 7 inches tall, and weighing approximately 280 pounds. She had very short, tightly curled black hair and no visible tattoos or scars. At the time she was found, she was wearing a maroon St. John’s Bay t-shirt in size XL and dark gray or black sweatpants in sizes 2XL from the brands Athletic Works and XIEERDUO. She was not wearing any jewelry.
Authorities have conducted fingerprint analysis with no initial matches. The Illinois State Police Crime Lab is now assisting with identification efforts.
