Pittsburgh, PA – CitiParks is working with local farmers to bring accessible markets to Squirrel Hill, East End, Carrick, and Northside throughout the year. All markets will accept food stamps (SNAP), credit and debit cards as part of Just Harvest’s Fresh Access program.
Markets operate Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, except for specific holidays or closures. Squirrel Hill’s market is at the Beacon/Bartlett parking lot, East End’s market is at Liberty Green park, Carrick’s market is at the Carrick Community Pavilion, and Northside’s market is at the Allegheny Commons Park.
The Squirrel Hill market is open Sundays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., the East End market is open Mondays from 3 to 7 p.m., the Carrick market is open Wednesdays from 3 to 7 p.m., and the Northside market is open Fridays from 3 to 7 p.m. All afternoon markets switch to 3 to 6 p.m. after Daylight Savings Time ends.
Vendors offer hot prepared foods, fresh fruits and vegetables, refreshing drinks, and hand-crafted gifts.
Just Harvest, an organization passionate about reducing food insecurity, is celebrating the Fresh Access program’s 11th year. Eligible shoppers can receive tokens from Just Harvest workers at the market after using their EBT, credit or debit cards. These tokens are accepted by most market vendors for EBT-eligible products.
The Farmers Market voucher program, which provides additional food access, has been postponed. Eligible seniors can continue applying through September.
The markets began after the City of Pittsburgh worked with the National Farmers Market Coalition to analyze the effectiveness of local markets.
“The goal of the study was to develop a more effective plan for growth that improves equitable access to fresh affordable, and culturally appropriate food, supports our regional food producers, and promotes healthy eating choices for all residents,” CitiParks said.
Vendor registration for 2025 is closed, but interested merchants are encouraged to apply when applications reopen for 2026.
