State College, PA – A winter weather advisory remains in effect for central Pennsylvania until 7 a.m. Monday, with snow and freezing rain expected to create hazardous travel conditions overnight.
According to the National Weather Service in State College, snowfall will last between two and five hours this afternoon and evening, primarily affecting areas near and north of Interstate 80. Light mixed precipitation will develop in the Laurel Highlands, with lingering freezing drizzle overnight. Snow totals will range from 1 to 3 inches across the Northern Mountains, while areas near I-80 could see around an inch. Ice accumulation is expected to remain under one-tenth of an inch.
Roads may become slick, potentially impacting the Monday morning commute. Areas along the Interstate 99 corridor and Laurel Highlands may see temperatures rise above freezing later tonight, reducing the freezing rain risk in those areas earlier than others.
