Pennsylvania – A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect overnight across parts of north-central Pennsylvania, with snow and lake effect snow creating slippery and locally hazardous travel conditions.
According to the National Weather Service in State College, additional snow accumulations of up to one inch are expected through 4 a.m. EST Friday, with locally higher amounts possible where persistent snow bands develop.
The advisory covers Tioga, Potter, Elk, Cameron, and Clearfield counties, including the communities of Wellsboro, Mansfield, Coudersport, Ridgway, St. Marys, Clearfield, and DuBois.
Forecasters warn that lake effect snow bands may produce brief periods of heavier snowfall, rapidly reducing visibility over short distances. Travel conditions may deteriorate quickly along key routes, including Route 6, US 15, Interstate 80, and US 322, where snow-covered pavement and blowing snow are possible.
In Clearfield County, gusty winds may contribute to blowing and drifting snow, further limiting visibility and increasing the risk of slick conditions on open roadways.
While snowfall totals are relatively light, cold surface temperatures will allow snow to accumulate on untreated roads, bridges, and overpasses, especially overnight. Motorists traveling late tonight or during early-morning hours should expect slower travel speeds and use caution in areas affected by heavier snow bands.
Drivers are advised to slow down, allow extra travel time, and be prepared for rapidly changing conditions. The latest road and traffic conditions are available at 511pa.com.
Snow showers are expected to taper toward daybreak, though isolated slick spots may linger into the early morning commute.
