Mount Holly, NJ – A Winter Storm Watch has been issued for Carbon and Monroe Counties in northeastern Pennsylvania, with the potential for 4 to 8 inches of snow from late Monday night through Tuesday evening, according to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly.

The agency warns that travel could become very difficult, especially during the Tuesday morning and evening commutes, as heavy snow is expected to impact visibility and road conditions.

The alert, issued Sunday afternoon, cautions residents to prepare for possible hazardous driving conditions and to stay tuned for forecast updates as the storm track becomes clearer. The heaviest snowfall is likely to occur early Tuesday, with snowfall rates potentially exceeding one inch per hour during peak periods.

If the system strengthens, forecasters say snow totals could vary depending on elevation, with the higher terrain in the Poconos likely to see the greatest accumulation.

Motorists are encouraged to keep emergency kits in their vehicles and delay non-essential travel if conditions deteriorate.

This watch is in effect from midnight Monday night through 10 p.m. Tuesday, covering key communities including Jim Thorpe and Stroudsburg.
