Philadelphia, PA – A winter storm is set to hit Philadelphia Wednesday, bringing snow, sleet, and freezing rain that could create hazardous travel conditions across the region. Morning commuters should prepare for slick roads and potential black ice, especially on I-95 and surrounding highways.
According to the National Weather Service, snowfall is expected to begin after 4 p.m. Wednesday, with sleet and freezing rain developing overnight. Temperatures will hover around 37°F during the day before dropping to near 30°F at night. Snow accumulation could reach half an inch, while icy conditions may worsen into Thursday morning.
By Thursday, the storm will shift to rain, with temperatures rising to 51°F. However, lingering ice from the overnight freeze could still cause dangerous road conditions early in the day. Drivers are urged to use caution and check local advisories before heading out.
Looking ahead, Friday will bring drier, mostly sunny conditions with a high near 44°F. Another storm system could bring more precipitation Saturday, with a mix of rain and snow possible.
