Philadelphia, PA – A winter storm is set to bring a mix of rain and snow to Pennsylvania starting Friday afternoon. Residents in and around the Philadelphia area should prepare for a rainy commute Friday, with the potential for snow overnight into Saturday.
According to the National Weather Service, precipitation will begin as rain during the day Friday, transitioning to a rain-snow mix Friday evening. North and west of the I-95 corridor, up to 1 inch of snow is possible, while areas further north, such as the Poconos, may see 1 to 3 inches. Temperatures are expected to drop sharply overnight, reaching lows in the teens by Saturday.
Drivers are urged to exercise caution on roads, particularly during the Friday evening commute and into early Saturday, as icy patches could form once temperatures plummet. The National Weather Service advises monitoring updates for potential travel disruptions and preparing vehicles for winter conditions.
Saturday will see clearing skies, but temperatures will remain cold with a high near 35 degrees. By Sunday, sunny skies will return, though daytime highs will peak at just 28 degrees, and overnight lows will drop into the single digits in some areas.
Looking ahead, the holiday week begins with sunshine Monday, though temperatures will remain below freezing, making it critical for residents to prepare for frigid conditions.
