Philadelphia, PA – Drivers and pedestrians across eastern Pennsylvania should brace for blustery conditions Sunday afternoon as wind gusts climb near 40 mph in areas like Philadelphia and Allentown, creating potential hazards through the evening.
According to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, a cold front sweeping through the region will bring widespread gusts of 30–38 mph starting around 1 p.m. Sunday, peaking in the late afternoon and early evening. In Philadelphia, gusts are expected to top out around 36 mph by 4 p.m., while Allentown could hit 35 mph. The strongest winds—up to 38 mph—are forecast in Georgetown, Delaware.
Cities including Reading, Trenton, and Toms River will also see gusty conditions, with wind speeds between 33–37 mph. Temperatures will remain seasonable ahead of the front, reaching the mid-70s in many locations before dropping sharply overnight. Mount Pocono, for instance, will see highs near 62°F before dipping into the 40s by early Monday.
Residents are urged to secure loose outdoor objects, exercise caution while driving—especially on bridges and open highways—and avoid burning debris due to elevated fire danger. Minor tree limb damage and isolated power outages are possible.
Wind gusts will gradually subside overnight, but breezy conditions could persist into Monday morning, especially in elevated areas.
