Pittsburgh, PA – A winter weather advisory remains in effect for parts of Pennsylvania and northern West Virginia until 7 a.m. Friday as snow and strong winds impact the region.

According to the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh, snow accumulations between 2 and 4 inches are expected, with winds gusting up to 40 mph. The advisory affects higher elevations in Westmoreland, Fayette, and Indiana counties in Pennsylvania, as well as Preston and Tucker counties in West Virginia.

Road conditions are expected to be hazardous, particularly during the Thursday evening and Friday morning commutes. Drivers should plan for slippery roads and reduced visibility due to blowing snow. Wind gusts may also cause drifting snow, making travel more challenging.

Residents are advised to slow down, use caution on sidewalks and driveways, and prepare for icy conditions. The NWS urges those experiencing significant snowfall or ice buildup to report conditions via phone, social media, or Twitter @NWSPittsburgh.

This winter weather system continues a trend of February storms bringing travel disruptions and dangerous conditions across the region. Drivers should check local forecasts and road conditions before traveling.
