Greensburg, Pa. – Slippery roads are expected to persist across southwest Pennsylvania and northern West Virginia through late Monday night as steady light snow adds up during both commutes.
According to the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh, a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 1 a.m. Tuesday for Jefferson, Westmoreland, Fayette and Indiana counties in Pennsylvania, along with Marion and Monongalia counties in West Virginia. Additional snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches are expected, with the highest totals in the foothills.
Cities including Greensburg, Latrobe, Uniontown, Indiana, Brookville, Morgantown and Fairmont will see periodic snow showers through the day. Even modest snowfall could create slick stretches on Route 30, Route 22, Interstate 70 and Interstate 79, especially on bridges and untreated secondary roads.
Officials warn that the Monday morning and evening commutes may be slow due to reduced traction and patchy visibility. Drivers are urged to allow extra stopping distance and check Pennsylvania 511 or West Virginia 511 for the latest road conditions.
Light snow will gradually taper late Monday night, but icy spots could linger into early Tuesday morning before conditions improve.
