Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania – Temperatures will flirt with 90°F in Pittsburgh on Friday as a stretch of hot, dry weather locks into western Pennsylvania.

According to the National Weather Service, Friday, June 20, will be mostly sunny with a high near 83°F and light southwest winds around 6 mph. Humidity and sunshine will combine to create a heat index approaching 100°F in some areas, especially along busy corridors like Route 28 and Route 51. Residents are urged to limit outdoor activity during peak afternoon hours, drink water regularly, and check on vulnerable neighbors.

This pattern will extend into the weekend. Saturday and Sunday will stay mostly sunny with highs around 94°F and lows in the low 70s. No rain is expected, but the combination of sunshine and stagnating air could increase health risks for sensitive groups, including the elderly and those with respiratory issues.

Nighttime temperatures will offer little relief, remaining in the low to mid 70s through Sunday night. The hottest day appears to be Monday, with a projected high of 96°F under continued clear skies. The region could be heading toward its longest hot streak so far this June.

Relief may not come until Tuesday night, when a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms could break the heat. Until then, stay hydrated, avoid strenuous afternoon activities, and prepare for extended heat.

Five-Day Forecast (June 20–June 24)

  • Friday: Mostly sunny, high 83°F.
  • Saturday: Mostly sunny, high 89°F.
  • Sunday: Sunny and hot, high 94°F.
  • Monday: Hot, mostly clear, high 96°F.
  • Tuesday: Slight chance of storms, partly sunny, high 96°F.
