Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania – A late-season cold surge will drop temperatures across Pennsylvania to near or below freezing overnight, creating frost risks and the potential for slick roads during early morning travel.

According to the National Weather Service Climate Prediction Center, below-normal temperatures will persist statewide through early next week, running 5 to 15 degrees below seasonal averages. While precipitation remains near normal, colder air will allow for winter-like conditions.

In western Pennsylvania, including Pittsburgh and Erie, overnight lows are expected to fall into the upper 20s to low 30s, creating widespread frost. Lake effect snow showers may develop off Lake Erie, briefly reducing visibility along I-79 and I-90.

Central مناطق including State College and Altoona could see a mix of rain and wet snow during overnight hours, with temperatures hovering near freezing. In eastern Pennsylvania, including Harrisburg, Allentown, and Philadelphia, patchy frost and isolated freezing rain may create slick spots on bridges and untreated roads.

Residents should protect sensitive plants, cover outdoor vegetation, and use caution during early morning travel. This colder pattern will persist through early next week, with additional advisories possible as freezing conditions continue.
