State College, Pa. – A stretch of unseasonably warm fall weather will bring patchy morning fog and highs near 80 degrees through early next week. While sunny afternoons dominate the weekend, Tuesday marks the next chance for showers across central Pennsylvania.

According to the National Weather Service in State College, patchy fog will develop late tonight and early Saturday morning, reducing visibility along U.S. Route 322, I-80, and rural valleys until after sunrise. Drivers are urged to slow down in fog-prone areas and allow extra travel time. Once the fog lifts, temperatures will rise quickly, reaching the upper 70s Saturday and Sunday under mostly sunny skies.

The mild stretch continues Monday, with highs again near 80 degrees — more typical of early September than October. According to forecasters, a weak front approaches Tuesday, bringing a 30 to 40 percent chance of showers, mainly in the afternoon and evening. Commuters and Penn State students should be prepared for wet roads and brief delays.

Warm daytime conditions will give way to cool nights, with lows dipping into the upper 40s to mid-50s. Clear skies will dominate most nights, ideal for evening outdoor events and fall festivals. Officials urge residents to dress in layers, as mornings may start chilly before warming rapidly. Those traveling in the early hours should also watch for patchy fog in valleys both Saturday and Sunday.

Conditions turn cooler behind Tuesday’s showers, with overnight lows falling into the low 40s by midweek. The extended stretch of sunshine and warmth should ease outdoor work and travel, but drivers should remain alert to sudden fog and changing road conditions.
