Scranton, PA – Residents in Northeast Pennsylvania should brace for a chilly and windy day as a Wind Advisory remains in effect for Lackawanna, Pike, Luzerne, and southern Wayne counties until 3 p.m. Friday.

According to the National Weather Service in Binghamton, NY, strong northwest winds will bring gusts up to 45 mph, particularly in higher elevations surrounding the Wyoming Valley and the Pocono region. Temperatures will struggle to reach the mid-40s, making for a brisk and cold day.

While the area will remain mostly precipitation-free, light snow showers or flurries are possible this morning in parts of Central New York due to Finger Lake Effect snow. Drivers should exercise caution, as strong wind gusts may cause hazardous travel conditions, particularly for high-profile vehicles.

The National Weather Service advises residents to secure loose outdoor objects and prepare for potential power outages due to falling tree limbs. Wind chills will also make temperatures feel significantly colder throughout the day.
