Philadelphia, Pennsylvania – Strong and gusty winds continue to affect the Philadelphia area Tuesday, prompting a Wind Advisory as blustery conditions persist through early afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service, a Wind Advisory remains in effect until 1 p.m. Tuesday, with sustained west winds of 15 to 20 miles per hour and gusts reaching 30 to 45 miles per hour. The advisory covers Philadelphia and much of southeast Pennsylvania.

Early Tuesday morning, temperatures at Philadelphia International Airport hovered near 33 degrees, with wind chills dropping into the teens and lower 20s due to the persistent breeze. Skies remain mostly cloudy, though no significant precipitation is expected during the advisory period.

Forecasters warn that the strong winds could blow around unsecured outdoor objects, snap small tree limbs, and lead to isolated power outages. Driving may be challenging at times, especially for high-profile vehicles on bridges, elevated roadways, and open highways. Pedestrians are also advised to remain cautious near scaffolding, construction zones, and older trees.

Winds are expected to gradually ease later this afternoon as the pressure gradient relaxes. However, breezy conditions may linger into the evening hours, keeping temperatures feeling colder than actual readings.

Looking ahead, the extended forecast shows seasonably cold conditions continuing through midweek. A slight chance of snow showers is possible Tuesday night into Wednesday, though no accumulation is currently expected. New Year’s Day brings continued cold with a high near 31 degrees and only a small chance for light snow showers.

Residents are encouraged to secure loose items such as trash cans and holiday decorations and to stay alert for updates from the National Weather Service as conditions evolve.
