PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Delaware Valley wakes to crisp, quiet air this morning, but the calm won’t last long. After a string of bright, comfortable days, clouds will thicken into Friday, signaling a wetter weekend ahead. By late Saturday, rain will sweep across southeastern Pennsylvania and southern New Jersey, drenching early travelers and outdoor plans.

According to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, an 80% chance of rain arrives Saturday evening as a warm front lifts north. Winds may gust near 25 mph at times, with steady rainfall likely through late night. Drivers along I-95, Route 1, and the Pennsylvania Turnpike should watch for slick pavement and ponding during heavier downpours. The storm will also bring a brief temperature spike — highs near 62°F Sunday before a sharp cool-down begins by evening.

After the rain clears, Sunday will start damp but gradually brighten, though cooler northwest winds will return by late day. Monday brings a noticeable change: brisk, sunny, and seasonably cool, reminding residents that winter’s chill is closing in. Highs will drop back near 50°F, with lows dipping into the mid-30s across the suburbs by Tuesday morning.

Those prepping for Thanksgiving travel or early decorating should take advantage of Friday’s calm weather before the rain sets in. Leaves will stay soggy through the weekend, so yard cleanup may be best pushed to early next week.

While no snow is expected yet, long-range models hint at colder air spilling into the region before Thanksgiving — an early winter tease for the Mid-Atlantic.
