Pittsburgh, PA – Gusty conditions are increasing across Western Pennsylvania this morning, with winds strengthening after sunrise and continuing into the afternoon, according to the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh. Forecasters say the strongest winds will occur between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., especially along ridge tops in southwest Pennsylvania, northern West Virginia, and western Maryland.
According to the National Weather Service, wind gusts today will commonly reach 25–35 mph across much of the region, including Pittsburgh, Wheeling, Zanesville, Morgantown, DuBois, and Franklin. Higher terrain areas—such as Davis, Seven Springs, and the Laurel Highlands—may see 35–45 mph gusts during peak hours.
The gusty conditions are expected to taper off gradually late tonight into Monday morning, with winds dropping below 15 mph by early Monday in most locations.
Forecasters warn that today’s wind may cause loose tree branches to snap, particularly in wooded or elevated areas. Residents are advised to secure outdoor decorations, trash bins, and lightweight holiday displays, which could shift or blow over as winds increase. Drivers of high-profile vehicles should also use caution, especially on exposed stretches of highways and ridge-top roads.
Despite the windy setup, skies will remain mostly dry. Temperatures will hold in the 40s to low 50s, creating a cool but seasonably normal day for late November.
