Warren County, PA – At 2:37 PM EST Sunday, the National Weather Service in State College, Pennsylvania, confirmed that a Lake Effect Snow Warning remains in effect for northwestern Pennsylvania until 7 AM EST Monday, with additional snowfall and dangerous cold expected overnight.
According to the National Weather Service, periods of heavy lake effect snow will continue across Warren and McKean Counties, including the cities of Warren and Bradford. Forecasters expect additional snow accumulations of 2 to 4 inches, with localized higher totals possible under persistent snow bands.
The snow, combined with gusty winds, is expected to significantly reduce visibility at times due to blowing snow, creating hazardous driving conditions. Officials warn that travel could become very difficult, especially on untreated roads and during heavier snowfall bursts.
The warning extends through the Monday morning commute, raising concerns for drivers heading to work or school early Monday. Slippery roads, sudden whiteout conditions, and snow-covered highways may persist into the early morning hours.
In addition to snowfall, wind chills near or below zero are expected to continue through the night, increasing the risk of frostbite for anyone exposed to the cold for extended periods. Emergency officials urge residents to limit time outdoors and dress in layers if travel is unavoidable.
Motorists are strongly encouraged to delay travel if possible. If travel is necessary, officials recommend driving with extreme caution and carrying a winter survival kit, including blankets, extra clothing, water, a flashlight, shovel, tire chains, and a first aid kit in case of emergencies or road closures.
The Lake Effect Snow Warning remains active until 7 AM EST Monday, when conditions are expected to gradually improve later in the day.
