Philadelphia, PA – Residents across Philadelphia and nearby South Jersey counties should prepare for potential coastal flooding Wednesday night as a fall weather system pushes into the region. The National Weather Service has issued a Coastal Flood Advisory from 8 p.m. Wednesday to 1 a.m. Thursday, warning that minor tidal flooding is possible along the Delaware River and tidal waterways.
According to the National Weather Service, vulnerable low-lying roadways near the Delaware River, particularly in Philadelphia and Burlington County, may experience minor flooding during tonight’s high tide. Drivers are urged to avoid water-covered roads, as even shallow flooding can damage vehicles and create dangerous travel conditions.
Tonight’s advisory aside, conditions improve quickly heading into the first weekend of October. Thursday will bring sunshine and a high near 68 degrees. By Friday, skies remain mostly sunny with a comfortable high near 71 degrees. Saturday offers the warmest stretch of the week, with highs in the upper 70s—perfect for early Halloween decorating or fall events.
Looking further ahead, Sunday continues the trend with mostly sunny skies and highs near 79. Monday stays warm at 81, keeping the fall weather stretch pleasant and calm.
