Philadelphia, Pennsylvania – A rapid warm-up into the upper 60s and low 70s by Thursday afternoon will give way to rain moving in overnight, creating slick conditions for the Friday morning commute.

According to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, dry weather will dominate through Wednesday and most of Thursday, with highs climbing from the 50s Tuesday into the upper 60s to near 70°F Thursday across Philadelphia, Trenton, and Wilmington. This midweek warm surge will feel spring-like but won’t last long.

Rain is expected to develop late Thursday night, becoming more widespread toward daybreak Friday. Precipitation chances increase to 60% to 80% across eastern Pennsylvania and northern New Jersey, including Allentown, Reading, and Toms River, with the highest coverage during the early morning hours.

Drivers along I-95, I-76, and the New Jersey Turnpike should prepare for wet roads and reduced visibility before sunrise Friday. While rainfall amounts appear moderate, steady rain during peak travel hours could slow traffic across urban corridors.

Behind the system, temperatures drop back into the 40s and 50s Friday, with cooler air lingering into Saturday. Residents should plan for dry and mild conditions through Thursday, then prepare for a wet start to Friday as the next system moves through.
