Pittsburgh, Pa. – Western Pennsylvania will enter a bright and stable weather pattern starting Monday, September 8, as high pressure settles across the region. Sunshine and warm afternoons will dominate the forecast, while NOAA warns that below-normal rainfall could persist through mid-September.

According to the National Weather Service, Monday begins with patchy fog before skies clear to full sun and highs reach 75. The dry, sunny pattern strengthens Tuesday and Wednesday, with highs climbing into the upper 70s and low 80s. NOAA’s 6–10 day precipitation outlook keeps Pennsylvania in the “below normal” category, raising concerns for soil moisture and stream levels if rain remains scarce.

For drivers across Allegheny County, including I-376 and the Pennsylvania Turnpike, the week brings ideal travel conditions with dry roads and clear skies. Farmers and gardeners, however, may see challenges with soil drying out, and local water resources could trend lower if the dry spell extends beyond mid-September.

The clear skies will deliver near-perfect fall-like afternoons, but officials advise residents to stay mindful of outdoor burning and water usage. A lack of rainfall during early September can quickly stress crops, lawns, and reservoirs.

The National Weather Service expects the dry influence to persist into late next week, with no meaningful rainfall on the horizon for Pittsburgh.
