State College, PA – A winter storm is set to bring snow, freezing rain, and sleet to Pennsylvania, creating hazardous conditions Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. Drivers should prepare for slippery roads, particularly along I-99, as freezing precipitation could make travel treacherous.
According to the National Weather Service, snow is expected to begin Tuesday evening, with a 50% chance of accumulation. By Wednesday morning, a mix of snow, sleet, and freezing rain is likely, with a high temperature near 31°F. Overnight, temperatures will drop to 28°F, increasing the risk of icy roads and sidewalks.
By Thursday, the region could see a shift to rain as temperatures rise to 41°F, reducing snow cover. However, another cold front will move in by Friday, bringing sunny but colder conditions with lows around 20°F.
Residents should stay updated on weather alerts and use caution while driving. Salt trucks and plows will be deployed, but icy patches may persist on untreated roads. Travelers should allow extra time for commutes and consider delaying non-essential trips during peak storm hours.
