Pennsylvania – Snow drifts quietly across the Pittsburgh skyline this morning, turning roads slick and slowing commutes across Allegheny County. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory until 1 p.m., warning of 1–2 inches of accumulating snow and hazardous driving conditions throughout western Pennsylvania.

The heaviest snow bands are expected through late morning before tapering by early afternoon. Calm winds from the southeast turn northwest as temperatures hover near 32°F, allowing snow to stick on untreated surfaces. Drivers should expect slushy stretches along I-79, I-376, and the Parkway West, where visibility may briefly drop below a mile.

Meteorologists caution that even light accumulations can cause major travel slowdowns during peak hours. Bridges and overpasses will freeze first, especially as colder air moves in behind the system. Residents are encouraged to delay nonessential travel, keep headlights on, and clear vehicle windshields fully before driving.

By late afternoon, conditions improve as skies begin to clear and temperatures drop into the mid-20s. The region stays mostly cloudy Wednesday with highs near 34°F, and another weak disturbance could bring scattered snow showers late Wednesday night into Thursday.

Looking ahead, Friday and Saturday appear drier but cold, with highs in the low 30s and lows dipping into the teens — a sign winter’s early grip is tightening.
