Pennsylvania – A cool, gray sky is giving way to a fast-building warm surge this afternoon, and temperatures are set to climb sharply across Philadelphia over the next 48 hours. Streets still feel crisp now, but sunshine breaking through clouds will quickly push readings upward, changing the feel of the day by late afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service, highs will reach the low 80s today before jumping to around 86°F Tuesday and nearing 90°F by Wednesday and Thursday. This marks a nearly 40-degree swing from early morning chill to midweek heat, a classic spring pattern that can catch residents off guard.

Across Philadelphia, including Center City, South Philly, and along I-95, drivers should expect glare and increasing pavement heat during the afternoon commute. Gusts up to 30 mph today may also push lightweight vehicles and create brief handling issues on bridges like the Walt Whitman and Ben Franklin.

By Tuesday night into Wednesday, milder air lingers with lows only dropping into the mid-to-upper 60s. That limited cooling can make homes feel warmer overnight, especially without ventilation.

Looking ahead, the stretch of near-90°F days continues through Thursday before easing slightly into the 80s late week. A chance of showers arrives by Sunday, which could bring slick roads and slower travel on regional highways.

Five Day Outlook for Philadelphia, Pennsylvania:
Monday: High 81°F, partly sunny
Tuesday: High 86°F, mostly sunny
Wednesday: High 90°F, mostly sunny
Thursday: High 90°F, partly sunny
Friday: High 84°F, mostly sunny
