Pennsylvania – Wind rattles windows and pushes carts across parking lots this morning as winter weather stays aggressive across the Delaware Valley. Gusts howl through city streets, bending bare trees and setting a raw tone as the final days of 2025 wind down.
According to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, a Wind Advisory remains in effect through early afternoon for southeastern Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and northern Delaware. West winds of 20 to 30 mph, with gusts near 50 mph, continue to make travel difficult, especially for trucks and buses. Unsecured objects may tumble, and isolated power outages remain possible.
Temperatures hover near the freezing mark early, and the cold air feels sharper in exposed areas. Drivers crossing the Ben Franklin, Walt Whitman, and Commodore Barry bridges should expect sudden gusts and brief handling issues. I-95 and the Schuylkill Expressway may see reduced control during stronger wind bursts.
As winds slowly ease later, attention shifts to snow chances. A slight chance of snow develops later today and continues into the evening. While accumulation looks light, cold pavement raises concern for quick slick spots. Melting during daylight hours could refreeze after sunset, creating patches of black ice.
Looking toward New Year’s Day 2026, temperatures stay seasonably cold with highs near the low 30s. Another light snow chance lingers before skies trend brighter. The first weekend of 2026 appears quieter, but cold nights near the upper teens keep icy hazards in play for early drivers.
Secure loose items, slow down on bridges, and plan extra time if traveling later today. Winter conditions remain changeable as the calendar flips.
