Harrisburg, PA – Rain is expected to continue across Pennsylvania, New York, and much of the Appalachian region through Thursday, according to the National Weather Service’s Middle Atlantic River Forecast Center.

The agency reported Tuesday that showers fell across the region yesterday and last night, helping to ease recent dry conditions. Forecasts now show additional rainfall today, with another round arriving Wednesday night into Thursday.

According to the National Weather Service, precipitation over the next three days could range from half an inch to more than two inches in some areas, with the heaviest rainfall projected in parts of central Pennsylvania and upstate New York. Despite the steady showers, officials say river flooding is not anticipated. The rain is expected to be largely beneficial, given the area’s recent lack of significant precipitation.

Travelers and commuters should prepare for periods of wet roads and reduced visibility during the midweek commute. Local residents may also notice small streams rising, but forecasters emphasize no widespread flooding is expected at this time.

The Middle Atlantic River Forecast Center will continue monitoring rainfall totals and provide updates if conditions change.
