Philadelphia, Pennsylvania – Another cold January night settles in across southeastern Pennsylvania and southern New Jersey tonight, but relief from the prolonged chill is finally in sight as a significant warmup takes hold later this week. Before temperatures rebound, a brief round of light snow could impact parts of the region overnight.

According to the National Weather Service in Philadelphia/Mount Holly, lows tonight fall into the teens and 20s, with the coldest readings across the Poconos, Lehigh Valley, and northwest New Jersey. A weak disturbance passing north of the region may bring a period of light snow overnight, mainly north of Interstate 78, including areas near Allentown, Reading, and the higher elevations of eastern Pennsylvania. Snow accumulations are expected to remain minor, generally up to a half inch, with dry conditions prevailing farther south toward Philadelphia, Trenton, and Wilmington.

Sunday remains seasonably cool with highs in the 30s, but temperatures begin climbing steadily early next week. By Tuesday and Wednesday, highs reach the 40s and low 50s across much of southeast Pennsylvania and central New Jersey. The warmup strengthens late week, with afternoon temperatures running 10 to 15 degrees above average and highs pushing into the 50s by Friday and Saturday.

Any lingering winter travel issues tonight should be brief. The broader trend favors milder, quieter weather as the region heads deeper into the week, with additional updates expected if precipitation chances increase alongside the warming pattern.
