PITTSBURGH, PA – Streetlights gleam off damp asphalt across the city this early Monday morning as light rain tapers and fog lingers in river valleys. The air carries that earthy chill unique to late October, the kind that whispers change is near.

The National Weather Service in Pittsburgh reports that a soggy start will give way to calmer, mostly sunny conditions later Monday, with highs near 61°F. Winds remain gusty at times — up to 30 mph — especially across higher elevations south and east of the city. Commuters along I-79 and I-376 may still encounter patchy mist and slick roads before midday.

The break in the rain will be brief. Another system approaches Tuesday, bringing renewed showers and gusty southwest winds. Rain chances rise to 70% by midday, with afternoon highs near 63°F. Some heavier downpours may occur across the Laurel Highlands, but no flooding concerns are expected.

By Wednesday, cooler air filters in behind the departing front, dropping highs into the mid-50s. The breeze will feel brisk, especially under cloudy skies and lingering drizzle. Thursday looks partly sunny but cooler still, with morning lows near 38°F — close enough to hint at the first frost potential later in the week for outlying suburbs.

The weekend turns crisp and pleasant, with highs rebounding near 60°F under mostly sunny skies. It’s shaping up to be classic fall weather — ideal for leaf cleanup, hiking, or that first mug of hot cider on the porch.
