Philadelphia, PA – A brutal heat surge in southeastern Pennsylvania and nearby New Jersey counties will ease by tonight—but not before temperatures hit 92°F and heat index values approach 99°F this afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, a Heat Advisory remains in effect until 8 p.m. Thursday for Philadelphia, Camden, Delaware, Gloucester, and parts of Burlington County. High humidity and hot temps could lead to heat-related illness. Residents should stay indoors, hydrate, and check on neighbors, especially older adults and children.

Rain and relief arrive late today, with scattered thunderstorms expected mainly after 5 p.m. Thursday, tapering off before dawn. Friday kicks off a shift toward drier, cooler weather. Expect sunshine and a high of 84°F in Philly, with light northwest breezes.

Saturday and Sunday bring perfect summer conditions: sunshine, highs near 90°F, and calm winds. Saturday night will be partly cloudy with lows in the low 70s.

Drivers along I-95 and Route 76 should watch for brief ponding during storms today. Weekend plans look safe, but sun protection will be key.

Warnings expire tonight, but another surge of 90s is likely early next week. Stay alert for new advisories.
