STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – Pennsylvania wakes up chilly Thursday, but residents can look forward to warmer afternoons and clear skies heading into Saturday, October 4. Early morning frost may still bite sensitive plants, yet daytime sunshine will drive highs into the upper 60s and 70s, easing travel and outdoor activity concerns.

According to the National Weather Service in State College, a frost advisory remains in effect until 9 a.m. Thursday for portions of Centre, Blair, Cambria, Bedford, and Somerset counties. Temperatures dipped into the mid-30s overnight, and uncovered gardens may have taken a hit. Farmers and gardeners are urged to cover vegetation tonight and Friday morning before a steady warming trend arrives.

Travelers along Route 322 and I-99 will see mostly dry pavement and light winds through the weekend, a welcome shift from this morning’s frosty start. Outdoor events, including fall festivals and early Halloween decorating, will enjoy nearly perfect conditions as highs climb toward 79 degrees by Saturday.

Friday looks mostly sunny with highs in the mid-70s, while Saturday warms into the upper 70s under bright skies. Patchy morning fog could develop both days, but it should burn off quickly, leaving clear afternoons.

Conditions stay pleasant into early next week, though increasing clouds by Tuesday may bring scattered showers. Until then, Pennsylvania enjoys a classic stretch of October fall weather.

Residents should continue monitoring temperature dips during the early morning hours. More advisories are possible if frost risks return next week.
