State College, Pa. – Northern and central Pennsylvania will wake up to a chilly start Monday as the National Weather Service has issued frost advisories across more than a dozen counties. Overnight lows are expected to dip into the low to mid-30s, with frost forming by 2 a.m. and lingering until about 8 a.m.
According to the National Weather Service in State College, temperatures could fall to near 32 degrees in counties including Cameron, Clearfield, Elk, McKean, Potter, and Somerset. Further south, areas such as Cambria, Centre, Clinton, Sullivan, and Tioga counties will also see widespread frost, especially in valleys and sheltered terrain.
Sensitive vegetation, gardens, and late-season crops are most at risk. Residents are urged to cover tender plants, bring potted flowers indoors, or use protective cloths to avoid damage. Agricultural communities across northern Pennsylvania, especially in Bradford, DuBois, Coudersport, and Mansfield, should take steps now before the cold settles in.
This unseasonably cool air marks an early taste of fall. Frost advisories remain in effect through sunrise Monday, with more updates possible if chilly conditions persist into midweek.
