McKean, PA – Patches of freezing rain could create hazardous driving conditions in northern Pennsylvania early Tuesday morning as light rain and snow move into the area.
According to the National Weather Service in State College, temperatures are hovering near freezing, increasing the risk of icy spots, particularly on bridges and overpasses. Surface temperatures are expected to rise above freezing by 9 a.m., reducing the threat of ice accumulation. The precipitation is forecast to taper off by late morning or early afternoon.
Motorists are advised to exercise caution, as some roads that appear wet may be coated in a thin layer of ice. Drivers should allow extra time for their morning commute and be aware of changing conditions.
The affected areas include McKean, Potter, Elk, Cameron, Northern Clinton, Tioga, Northern Lycoming, and Sullivan counties. While most locations will see temperatures climb above freezing, some isolated spots could experience slick conditions before the warm-up.
Residents are encouraged to monitor local weather updates and use caution when traveling until conditions improve later in the morning.
