Pittsburgh, PA – Flash flooding remains a concern across Pennsylvania as a multi-day stretch of slow-moving storms brings heavy rainfall through Tuesday, raising the risk of localized flooding across both urban and rural areas.
According to the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh, much of the state is under a Marginal Risk for flash flooding starting Friday, with a Slight Risk for scattered flash floods in southwestern Pennsylvania. Conditions remain unstable Saturday through Tuesday, with daily chances for heavy downpours that could overwhelm drainage systems—especially in low-lying areas and along creeks and streams.
In Pittsburgh, rainfall could lead to standing water on Route 28 and delays along the Parkway East. In central Pennsylvania, areas around Altoona and State College may see brief but intense storms. Western Pennsylvania counties including Greene, Washington, and Indiana are also at risk for street flooding in poorly drained zones.
Residents are urged to monitor alerts, avoid driving through flooded roads, and secure basements and storm drains. Sunday offers the best chance for dry weather, but flash flood potential returns Monday and Tuesday.
Flash Flood Watches may be issued as the system evolves. Stay weather-aware and check local alerts daily.
