Philadelphia, Pa. – Flash flooding and severe thunderstorms could disrupt travel and daily life across Pennsylvania through Tuesday as a multi-day stretch of heavy rain sweeps the state.

According to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, 1 to 3 inches of rain are expected statewide, with some areas possibly seeing more than 4 inches by Tuesday. The probability of exceeding one inch of rainfall is greater than 70% in cities like Reading, Lancaster, and Philadelphia. The heaviest rainfall is expected from Sunday through Tuesday, with repeated rounds of thunderstorms capable of producing damaging winds.

Flood-prone areas and urban centers—particularly in southeastern Pennsylvania—face the highest threat of flash flooding. Commuters in Allentown and Harrisburg should prepare for slick roads and localized ponding, especially during afternoon and evening hours. Outdoor plans from Pittsburgh to Scranton may be interrupted by fast-moving storms.

Residents are urged to clear storm drains, secure loose outdoor items, and avoid driving through flooded roadways. Emergency kits and mobile device chargers should be kept handy in case of power outages.

Rain chances and flood risks will persist through Tuesday night, with additional advisories possible as conditions evolve. Stay weather-aware and check for updates from local emergency management offices.
