Pennsylvania – Headlights glow faintly through thick fog across the State College region this morning. Visibility drops sharply along valley roads and rural highways as mist settles over central Pennsylvania.

Drivers along I-99, US-322, and Route 26 are navigating slow traffic where fog hugs low-lying areas near campus and surrounding hills. Wet pavement and low clouds make the morning commute feel dim and damp across Centre County.

According to the National Weather Service in State College, areas of dense fog continue through mid-morning, with visibility occasionally falling near one-quarter mile. The fog gradually lifts as temperatures climb into the lower 50s later today.

Clouds linger through the afternoon, and scattered rain showers may develop after mid-afternoon. Rain chances remain around 30 percent, meaning many neighborhoods will see only brief showers. Still, damp roads could create slick conditions through the evening hours.

Another round of unsettled weather arrives during the weekend. Showers become more widespread Saturday afternoon and evening, with rain chances increasing to around 70 percent. Temperatures climb into the mid-60s, unusually warm for early March in central Pennsylvania.

The weather improves quickly afterward. Sunshine returns Sunday with highs near 58 degrees across State College and surrounding communities.

Early Sunday morning also marks the start of Daylight Saving Time, when clocks jump forward at 2 a.m. The shift brings brighter evenings as spring approaches.

The warming trend strengthens early next week. Monday looks sunny with highs near 68 degrees, and temperatures could reach around 70 degrees by Tuesday across parts of central Pennsylvania.

Meteorologists also remind drivers that early-spring temperature swings can create flash freezing at night if melting moisture refreezes on bridges.
