Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania – Daily rounds of showers and thunderstorms are expected to soak southwestern Pennsylvania through Sunday, bringing renewed concerns for isolated heavy rainfall and localized disruptions across the region.

According to the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh, a stalled boundary will keep precipitation chances elevated—peaking each afternoon—through the weekend. Cities including Pittsburgh, DuBois, Franklin, and Morgantown face rain chances of 65% or higher by Thursday, with most areas seeing an 85% likelihood of measurable precipitation on Sunday, July 13. Not every day will be a total washout, but the persistent pattern means almost every city from Indiana to Zanesville will see showers or storms at some point.

Travelers should watch for water ponding on roads and brief slowdowns during heavy downpours, especially on highways like I-79 and I-70. Residents are advised to monitor for sudden changes in weather, charge mobile devices ahead of storms, and limit outdoor plans when thunder is in the area. Humidity will also increase, with dew points rising into the weekend—making afternoons feel noticeably more muggy.

Temperatures are expected to remain near or just above average, but the combination of rain and higher humidity could make conditions uncomfortable at times. Additional advisories are possible if rainfall rates intensify or localized flooding develops.

Rain and thunderstorm chances continue daily through Sunday. Stay tuned for updates from the National Weather Service as new alerts may be issued.
