Philadelphia, PA – The air feels crisp and still this Friday morning as fall takes firm hold across southeastern Pennsylvania. Sunshine will dominate through the weekend, but the real story arrives late Sunday when colder air moves in from the northwest, bringing the season’s first brush with frost to outlying areas. Gardeners and homeowners should prepare now—cover plants and clear patios before the chill sets in.

According to the National Weather Service, Philadelphia will stay mostly sunny through Sunday with daytime highs in the upper 50s to near 60°F. Winds will remain light, giving the city a classic fall feel—comfortable afternoons followed by quick cool-downs at dusk. By Saturday night, readings fall to around 40°F, and by Sunday evening, colder pockets in Chester, Bucks, and Montgomery Counties could slip toward the mid-30s.

That’s when light frost could form, particularly north and west of the city. The first frost of the season is often more symbolic than damaging, but it signals the shift toward winter preparation—hoodies by day, jackets by night, and early heat checks indoors.

Looking ahead, clouds increase by Tuesday, followed by scattered showers Wednesday into Thursday. Temperatures stay seasonal, in the upper 50s, but models hint at a gradual cooling trend into Halloween week. Trick-or-treaters may need layers, but early signs suggest a dry and breezy evening for next Friday’s festivities.
