Pennsylvania’s warm air is already building over Philadelphia, and sunshine is giving way to thicker clouds as energy builds for storms later today. The air feels mild and slightly breezy, but the shift toward wet weather is already underway.

According to the National Weather Service, temperatures climb near 82°F with southwest winds gusting up to 30 mph, helping fuel instability ahead of developing showers and thunderstorms. Rain chances increase to 60% by Wednesday afternoon and peak near 80% Wednesday night.

Across Philadelphia and nearby South Jersey, the first half of the day stays mostly dry, but conditions begin to change quickly by mid to late afternoon. Drivers along I-95, I-76, and the Schuylkill Expressway should prepare for sudden slowdowns as storms develop.

By Wednesday, showers become more widespread, with periods of steady rain and embedded thunderstorms. Expect slick roads, reduced visibility, and ponding in low-lying areas, especially during peak travel hours. Plan extra time and avoid flooded roadways.

Temperatures drop sharply by Thursday, with highs only reaching the mid-50s. That cooler air combined with lingering moisture will create a damp, raw feel. Early morning travelers north and west of the city should stay alert for isolated slick spots if temperatures dip closer to the upper 30s.

Conditions improve briefly Friday with partly drier skies before another round of showers returns by the weekend. Early April trends milder overall, but the active spring pattern continues.

Five Day Forecast for Philadelphia, Pennsylvania:
Today: 82°F, mostly sunny, slight storm chance
Tonight: Low near 67°F, mostly cloudy
Wednesday: 84°F, 60% chance of storms
Thursday: 56°F, 30% chance of showers
Friday: Mostly cloudy, high near 75°F
