Pittsburgh, PA – Western Pennsylvania faces a wet and potentially stormy weekend, with strong thunderstorms and possible heavy rain on the way for Pittsburgh, Butler, and surrounding areas through Monday night.

According to the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh, a weakened boundary will keep the chance of showers and thunderstorms elevated through Saturday, followed by a powerful trough pushing in by Sunday and Monday. Rain chances rise to 75% across cities like Butler, Dubois, and Wheeling on Sunday afternoon, continuing into Monday, increasing the risk for isolated flooding and travel disruptions. Afternoon and evening commutes could see reduced visibility and ponding on roads such as I-79, I-376, and Route 19.

Communities including Latrobe, Zanesville, Oil City, and Washington are advised to prepare for periods of heavy downpours, especially late Sunday through early Monday, when excessive rainfall can’t be ruled out. Residents should secure outdoor belongings, clear storm drains, and keep mobile devices charged in case of power outages.

The threat for strong storms and locally heavy rainfall will persist through Monday evening, with more advisories possible if conditions worsen. Residents are urged to monitor local updates and avoid driving through flooded roadways.

Five Day Bullet Point Forecast:
