Philadelphia, Pennsylvania – Showers are moving across the region right now, bringing wet roads and reduced visibility before a sharp shift to gusty winds that could impact travel through the afternoon.
According to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, rain will taper off by midday Monday, but northwest winds will quickly increase, with gusts between 25 and 35 mph expected across Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware. The strongest winds are likely from early afternoon into the evening commute.
Across Pennsylvania, cities including Philadelphia, Allentown, and Reading will see temperatures hold in the upper 40s to low 50s, with wind gusts making it feel significantly cooler. Along major routes like I-95, I-76, and the Pennsylvania Turnpike, drivers may encounter crosswinds, especially on bridges and overpasses.
In New Jersey, Trenton, Toms River, and Atlantic City will also deal with gusty conditions and highs in the mid to upper 40s. Coastal areas may see the strongest winds, increasing the risk for difficult driving conditions along the Garden State Parkway.
Residents are urged to secure loose outdoor items, use caution while driving high-profile vehicles, and expect rapidly changing conditions as skies clear but winds intensify.
Conditions improve later tonight as winds begin to ease, with calmer and sunnier weather expected across the region by Tuesday.
