Pennsylvania – 30 mph wind gusts are chilling commuters through late morning, dropping wind chills near 29°F and slowing travel across Philadelphia today.

A sharp, biting breeze is sweeping through the city streets, rattling signs and pushing across bridges along I-95 and I-76. Temperatures sit in the mid-30s early, but the wind makes it feel closer to the upper 20s. That combination creates a brisk start that can stiffen hands and reduce comfort for anyone waiting on transit or walking into Center City.

According to the National Weather Service in Philadelphia, north winds around 15 mph with gusts up to 30 mph will persist through midday before easing later today. Skies stay sunny, but the cold air mass keeps highs limited to near 47°F.

Drivers should keep both hands on the wheel, especially on elevated roadways like the Benjamin Franklin Bridge where crosswinds can be stronger. Bundle up if heading out, and allow extra time during the morning commute as the wind slows foot and vehicle traffic.

Temperatures dip again tonight to near 32°F. That raises a concern for patchy refreezing on untreated roads and bridges by early Sunday. Watch for slick spots during the early drive, particularly north and west of the city.

Conditions shift quickly after that. Sunday climbs to near 57°F with increasing clouds. By Monday, a noticeable spring surge pushes highs to the mid-60s, followed by near 78°F Tuesday under partly sunny skies.

Rain chances return midweek. Showers may develop late Monday night into Tuesday morning, then become more likely Wednesday afternoon with a 60% chance of rain.

Five-Day Outlook for Philadelphia:
Sunday: High 57, increasing clouds
Monday: High 66, partly sunny, late rain chance
Tuesday: High 78, morning showers possible, then clearing
Wednesday: High 81, rain likely after afternoon
Thursday: High 55, cooler with lingering rain chances
