Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania – 28°F morning temperatures are creating slick travel conditions early Saturday, before a rapid warmup pushes highs into the 70s by Tuesday and changes conditions across western Pennsylvania. Cold air in place this morning is producing a chilly start, especially on untreated roads and bridges, before a steady warming trend takes hold.

According to the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh, dry weather will persist through early next week, with temperatures climbing each day after Saturday’s cool conditions. Highs will rise from the 40s Saturday into the upper 50s Sunday, then into the mid-60s Monday, before reaching the low to mid-70s by Tuesday across much of the region.

The coldest early conditions are expected in areas such as Butler, Beaver Falls, and Clarion, where morning lows near the upper 20s could lead to patchy frost and isolated slick spots on bridges, overpasses, and rural roads. By contrast, urban areas like Pittsburgh and Washington will warm more quickly during the day but still begin with a sharp chill.

Drivers should use caution during early morning hours, especially on elevated roadways, and allow extra time for travel. Residents with sensitive plants should take precautions during the cold start before the warmer pattern settles in.

The warming trend will continue through Tuesday, with above-normal temperatures expected across the Ohio Valley. Dry conditions will hold, and no major weather hazards are expected after the early morning chill subsides.
