Pittsburgh, Pa. – Summer heat returns in full force Saturday as Pittsburgh climbs toward 92°F, kicking off a stretch of sweltering days with limited relief before storms move in Monday.

According to the National Weather Service, high pressure will dominate Saturday and Sunday, sending temperatures soaring across western Pennsylvania. Saturday afternoon’s peak heat will reach 92°F under mostly sunny skies, with light southwest winds offering little cooling effect. By Sunday, conditions will feel even hotter with a high near 94°F — the most intense heat Pittsburgh has seen since early June.

Residents are urged to stay hydrated, limit strenuous outdoor activities between 12 p.m. and 6 p.m., and check on elderly neighbors and pets. Travelers on I-376 and Route 28 should be aware of possible vehicle overheating and glare-related visibility issues during peak sunshine.

Monday begins with more heat, but instability builds through the afternoon. A 30% chance of thunderstorms is expected after 2 p.m., which could bring temporary relief from the heat — but also increase humidity. Overnight Monday, another chance of storms continues before skies begin to clear Tuesday.

By midweek, temperatures begin to ease slightly but remain above average. With multiple storm chances ahead, this weekend is the best window for any outdoor plans.
